Glade A. Gauld, 89, a lifelong resident of Fife Lake, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at Kalkaska Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Fife Lake on June 11, 1917, the son of Arthur and Clara (Cunningham) Gauld. Glade married Berneita Hatzell on April 30, 1938, in Fife Lake.
Glade owned and operated a sawmill in Fife Lake for many years. He also worked road construction and operated his own excavating business. Glade enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motor home and wintered in Nevada, around Courtside and Bullshead, where he enjoyed panning for gold.
Glade truly loved his family and grandchildren.
Glade is survived by his wife of 68 years, Berneita Gauld of Fife Lake; six children, Aneita (Stan) Mongar of Cadillac, Gale (Judy) Gauld of Fife Lake, Jane (Phil) Rogers of Fife Lake, Dale (Becky) Gauld of Fife Lake, Roy (Nancy) Gauld of Fife Lake, and Jerry (Kim) Gauld of Fife Lake; 18 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Stanley, Garth and Lyman Gauld.
Visitation will be held today, Nov. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, with additional visitation from noon, also at the funeral home, with Elder Linda Bridson officiating. Burial will take place in Clark Cemetery in Fife Lake.
