Beulah Merritt, 82, of 208 Division St, Manton, died Tuesday morning at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac where she had been a patient for one week.
She was born Beulah Baurne in Minnekahta, SD, on Sept 18, 1891. At the age of nine she moved to Kalkaska County where she lived until moving to Manton in 1956. In 1909 she married Samuel Gonyer. In 1952 in Byron Center she married Floyd Merritt who died in January of 1973.
Mrs. Merritt was a member of the Manton First Christian Church and its Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Carpenter Ladies Aid.
Surviving are two sons, Reo Gonyer of Sparta and Louis Gonyer of Hanover; seven daughters, Mrs. William (Juna) Bartholomew of Lake City; Mrs. Christian (Gertrude) Cox of Manton; Mrs. Gearold (Emma) Potter of Lansing; Mrs. Robert (Beatrice) Moore and Mrs. Lyle (Leona) Tucker of Jackson; three brothers, Raymond of Flint, Cecil of Detroit and Archie of Fife Lake; 35 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton. Rev. David Livingston and Rev. Robert Frye will officiate. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
