Frederick W. Bourne, 83, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 1949, at his home in Springfield Township near Fife Lake. He was born November 20, 1865, at Jamica, Vermont, and was married in 1888 in South Dakota, when that state was still a territory. He came to Michigan Oct. 6, 1900 settling on a farm in Springfield Township.
Mr. Bourne served Springfield township as a treasurer for 22 years, always being active and interested in the affairs of the community in which he lived. He retired from this position a year ago when his health began to fail him.
Surviving are his wife, Ellen, four sons, Charlie, Raymond, Cecil, and Archie, all of Fife Lake; one daughter, Mrs. Julia Long of Lansing; 26 grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Ellen Lakies, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 from the Church of Christ in Springfield township with Rev. John Meredith of Kalkaska officiating. Burial will be made in the Springfield township cemetery.
