Clarence Vern Blake, 60, a World War I veteran died at his home in Springfield township, Kalkaska County late Tuesday night. He had been in ill health the past four years.

Mr. Blake was born in Springfield township on February 10, 1892 and was united in marriage to Elzorah VanderBrook in Fife Lake in 1919. A veteran of World War I he was a member of Legion Post 3-6 of Fife Lake.

Surviving are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Dwight Zassen Braker of Flint, Mrs. James Smith of Whitmore Lake, and Ruth at home, three grandchildren, one brother, and five sisters. 

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from the Clark Church in Springfield Township with services under the auspices of the American Legion. Burial will be made in Clark Cemetery.
