Aldridge, Luther Adolphus

In Memory of
Luther Adolphus Aldridge

BIRTH: 11 Jun 1858 , Dodge, Wisconsin

DEATH: 06 Jun 1905 , Kalkaska, Michigan

Luther A. Aldridge died at his home in Springfield, Kalkaska County, June 6, 1905, aged 47 years.

He was born June 11, 1858, in Dodge County, Wisconsin, moved with his parents to Caro, Michigan, when 3 years old, and settled at Fife Lake when 17 years of age.

He was married to Elizabeth Eady Nov. 22, 1879, and to them eight children were born, six of whom are living, Mrs. Jesse Tolbert, Adolphus, Mable, Tom, Martha, and Wilbur, and together with the wife and two sisters, Mrs. Flora Hill and Mrs. E. J. Stampfler, are left to mourn his death.

One brother, David E. Aldridge, and one sister, Mrs. Liza Seaman, preceded him to that unknown beyond.

Mr. Aldridge has always been an upright and honest citizen and has held many public offices of trust, also he was a member of the I.O.O.F., M.W.A. and K.O.T.M.M. lodges, had filled the various chairs in each one and was the best posted member in the laws and the ritualistic work in the lodges.

His home was a merry place for the young people for miles around to meet, as Mr. Aldridge entered heartily into their merriment and was always as young in action as any of them.

He will be sadly missed by the whole community, as well as by his family, for it is not often that we are blessed by such an all around honest and useful citizen as Mr. Aldridge. The funeral will be held from the Fife Lake M.E. church on Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock and the interment will be at the Springfield Cemetery.
