Leith L. .Cunningham, "Lee", age 89, of Fife Lake, passed away peacefully on Oct. 20, 2021 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family and friends. Lee was born to the late Albert and Anna (Pitz) Cunningham on May 12, 1932.

At the young age of 17 Lee tried to enlist in the army but was turned away due to his age. However, that never stopped Lee and at the age of 18 he successfully enlisted in the army. From 1950 to 1951 Lee served in the Korean War as a machine gunner for the 2nd infantry division. Upon serving his country, Lee was injured in the line of duty. Due to his injuries Lee was evacuated from Korea on March 9, 1951 at which time he received a purple heart for his service and loyalty to the military. 

After discharge from the army Lee began another chapter of his life. On Nov. 10, 1951 Lee married his soul mate and lifelong best friend, Nancy (Woodworth) Cunningham. 

Lee was a gentle loving, caring and wonderful man who enjoyed playing tricks on his grandchildren, spending time with family, playing his guitar, playing euchre, serving his Lord and his country. lee has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be severely missed. He is survived by his daughter, Marlene Emery; his grandchildren, Lee Cunningham, Heather Cunningham, Shelly Helsel, Ashley Miela, Jessica Miela-Patton; 18 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; brother, Marcel Cunningham. 

Lee was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Anna (Pitz) Cunningham; two brothers; Glade Cunningham and Teddy Tyler; sister Ruth Cunningham; son Lee Cunningham; and granddaughter Angela Miela. 

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on May 12, 2022.
