My loving 85 year-old-wife, Nancy Jean (Woodworth) Cunningham, of Fife Lake, left this temporary physical life to be called home by Almighty God, on Jan. 27, 2020 after 68 years of marriage.
She was the mother of our children; grandmother, great-grandmother and now great-great-grandmother of our latest family member, Noah Lucas.
When the diagnosis came down that she had a super aggressive blood cancer and was given six months to live, she elected not to subject herself to treatment that would only mean a prolonged suffering for herself and her family. She bravely and courageously accepted Hospice care in Eden Care in Kalkaska, to only be kept pain free as much as possible and not to be hooked up to anything that would prolong her life.
I served in deadly and bloody combat with military warriors in Korea. I have never seen a soldier that could excel beyond the bravery and courage that Nancy stepped up to and took on during her impending death. She starred death down in its ugly face and won. God had taken away all fear of the unknown that lurked in the shadows and with great intestinal fortitude that gave me a gratefulness and thankfulness for the strong young girl that I had married, that grew to be even stronger while facing her death. In life and in death she will always be my hero. Even more important than that, we together kept our marriage vows before God, until death we have now parted.
