June was born June 26, 1927, in Kalkaska, Michigan, the daughter of Floyd and Erva (Haskin) Burt. She was a proud graduate of Flint Central High School “Class of 1945” and married James Davis in 1950. She retired from Flint City Hall after 29 years of service. She was employed there from September 27, 1945 – July 12, 1974.
She lived a life that revolved around family, church and entertaining others. She looked forward to family gatherings, cooking and baking for others, always doing things “just right” as a party hostess.
Some of June’s hobbies included cooking, baking, and especially keeping up on her mail. She was very prompt and punctual about remembering birthdays, and anniversaries and also enjoyed sending out a simple “Thinking Of You” card… Sending mail was just as important as receiving mail.
June was very involved in different groups, such as Christian Woman’s Club, Ladies Bible Study, Glendale Hills Neighborhood Assoc., and for many years she worked on funeral dinners. She was also very active with Flint Central Alumni.
She leaves behind her daughter Jill (Boyce) Christopher of Grand Blanc, granddaughter Janet (David) McGaffigan of Manistee, great granddaughters Jessica (Randy) Pfeiffer of Saint Clair Shores, Clarissa Garza, Emily McGaffigan and grandson Andrew McGaffigan of Manistee, great great grandsons Zachary Garza and Nathan Stone. As well as her four sisters, Virginia, Joy, Judy, Janice, one brother Bernard, and one brother in law Charles. Also several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Preceding her in death were parents, Floyd and Erva (Haskin) Burt, brother Stanley Burt, sister Della (Burt) Sisler, and husband James Davis.
