Jeritza “Dee” Lou DeCheney, age 76 years, of Hesperia, passed away early Saturday morning, Oct 21, 2017, at her home.
She was born on Jul 29, 1941, in Muskegon, MI to Gerald & Varden (Aldridge) Akers. Dee was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Fremont, and she enjoyed fishing, yard sales, and sitting on her front porch looking at the flowers in her yard. On Jun 25, 1960 she married John E DeCheney, Sr. and he preceded her in death on Jan 8, 2013. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Craig DeCheney & John DeCheney Jr; by her sister, Sheila Huffman; and by her parents.
She is survived by 2 sons: Gerald “Joe” (Linda) DeCheney of Grand Haven, Bradley (Sonya) DeCheney of Hesperia; 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; her twin brother, Jerrold (Donna DeCheney) Akers of Fremont; and her sister, Vanitta (Pete) Boody of TN.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am on Sat, Nov 4, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Hesperia (263 Elm Street) with Fr. Pete Schafer as Celebrant. There will be a luncheon & time to visit with the family at the church immediately following the service.
Interment will be in East Hesperia Cemetery.
