Gerald “Joe” Joseph DeCheney, age 60, of Grand Haven, MI, passed away on Sun, Mar 26, 2023. He was welcomed Home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, after a well-fought battle with lung cancer. Joe was born on Aug 9, 1962 in Muskegon, MI to John Edward and Jeritza Lou (Akers) DeCheney, Sr. He married Linda L. Baxter on Feb 11, 1983.
Joe was a proud graduate of Hesperia High School, Class of 1982. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, scrapping metal, watching John Wayne movies, and spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda L. DeCheney; his sons, Ryan DeCheney and Kyle DeCheney; and grandson, Gage DeCheney, all of Grand Haven; his brother, Brad (Sonya) DeCheney of Hesperia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, John DeCheney Jr and Craig DeCheney.
The Memorial Service for Joe will take place at 2 pm on Sat, Apr 22, 2023 at Lakeshore Lutheran Fellowship Church with Pastor Christopher Boehnke officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or the American Lung Association of Michigan.
