Elizabeth Haskin of Manton died Thursday, July 7, 2005 at Tendercare in Traverse City. She was 89. She was born on May 30, 1916 in Fife Lake to Eugene and Lula (Warren) Birgy. She married Lester Haskin on Jan. 3, 1933 in Springfield Township, Kalkaska County. He preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1969. Mrs. Haskin grew up in the Fife Lake area. After marriage, she lived in Flint from 1934 to 1944. She returned to Fife Lake for 10 years until moving to Manton in 1954. She loved crocheting, cooking, picking strawberries and being with her family. Survivors include her children, William (Jeannette) Haskin of Fife Lake, Douglas (Erna) Haskin of Temecula, Calif. Rose Bainbridge of Manton, Charles (Anne) Haskin of Lansing, Sandra (John) Maszy of Windermer, Fla., Marcia Perry of Manton, Theodore (Cathy) Haskin of Holt, Dennis “Tim” (Mary) Haskin of Hamburg and Vicki Sanders of Manton; 23 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and brothers, Paul (Maurietta) Birgy of Manton and Anthony Birgy of South Branch. In addition to her husband, Lester, she was preceded in death by her son, Felice “Din” Haskin in 1995; brother, Wilbert; and sisters, Margaret Mowers and Lorraine Williams. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton. Cremation will follow with a graveside service in Clark Cemetery, Fife Lake, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, Cadillac office.
