In Memory of
Donald Bruce

BIRTH: 07 Feb 1834 , Ontario, Canada

DEATH: 21 Feb 1905 Speaker, Sanilac, Michigan

Died at his home in the township of Speaker on Tue, February 21, 1905, of pneumonia, Donald Bruce aged 71 years and 14 days.

The deceased moved to Speaker Township from Goderich Township, Huron Co. Ont., about 26 years ago. When he came to the township he had enough money to purchase a farm. This he cleaned up and purchased another and at the time of his death he was one of the richest in the township being worth in the neighborhood of $20,000. He was born in Canada of Scotch parentage.

He was first married to a Miss McAllister, who only lived a few years leaving two children, Agnes, now married and living at Grand Forks, ND, and Alexander, who died at Sault Ste. Marie two years ago.

Thirty-two years ago he married Miss Annie Agnew, now the sorrowing wife who survived him. By this wife he had one of the brightest families in the county, Mrs. Anna Clark, of Omard, Mrs. Barbara McPhee of Melvin, Mrs. Jessie Clark of Manitoba and Nellie, Maggie, Joseph, Frances, Florence, and Laura at home.

The remains were embalmed and kept until Tue the 28th, until the family arrived and then interred in the Melvin Cemetery followed by a very large number of relatives and friends. Rev. Mr. Whitfield, pastor of the Elk Presbyterian Church officiated.

The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church and of L.O.L. He was a genial, pleasant man to meet, a great worker and upright in all his dealings. We sympathize with the wife and family in the loss of their best earthly friend.
