Daniel Timmins, 81, resident of Fife Lake, died Tuesday night at his home in Fife Lake following a lingering illness. 

Daniel Timmins was born July 2, 1874, in Canada, the son of Daniel and Jennie Timmins. While still a young child he moved with his parents to Grand Traverse County and settled in Springfield township, Kalkaska county, where he farmed until retiring nine years ago when he moved into Fife Lake. 

Mr. Timmins was a member of the Modern Woodmen and the Grange. 

On Feb. 22, 1889, he was united in marriage to Susie Battenfield of Springfield township and to this union were born four children.

Surviving besides the widow are two sons, John Timmins of Fife Lake and Kenneth Timmins of Lansing; one daughter, Mrs. Retha Olney of Muskegon; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie McDonald of Fife Lake, Mrs. Maggie Donahue of Lake City, and Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Cadillac; two brothers, William Timmins of Traverse City and Emmett Timmins of Lake City; two grandchildren and many other relatives and a large circle of friends. One son, Norval, preceded him in death. 

The body will be taken from the Smith Funeral home at Kingsley at noon Friday to the Springfield church where it will be in state until time of services at 2:00 p.m. Friday. Interment will be made in the Clark Cemetery.
