Audrey L. McCormic, age 95, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. She was born March 18, 1921 in Springfield Township in Kalkaska Countyto Oscar and Wilma (Blake) Miner. She spent her childhood days in the same area she was born. After graduating from Fife Lake High School, she married her high school sweet heart, Frank McCormic in 1939.
In 1940, they moved to Detroit where Audrey's husband was employed. They lived there until Frank was called into the Army in WWII. Audrey lived in Flint with her parents while Frank was away. Audrey and Frank moved back to the Fife Lake area where she was a bookkeeper/secretary for her husband's residential building business for many years. In 1952, they lost their only child, a daughter, at birth, Audrey spent her winters with her husband in Sarasota, Florida.
Audrey was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary in Traverse City and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved her family, music, singing, especially in different choirs, dancing, flowers and many of the arts.
Audrey will be greatly missed by several special nieces and nephews, especially Larry Miner, of Traverse City, Bonnie (Richard) Mallow, of Traverse City, Pam (Dennis) Kline, of Troy, and Barry (Linda) Sivic.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sherry Lee; brothers, Mancel, Bernard, and Virgil Miner; and one sister, Dorothy Sivic.
A funeral will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at 12 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City with visitation one hour prior. Audrey will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter at Clark Cemetery in Springfield Township.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Grand Traverse Pavilions or Trinity Lutheran Church.
