Frank McCormic, 81, of Traverse City, died Thursday at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. 

Born May 6, 1918, in Kalkaska County, he was the son of Forest B. and Mable (Priest) McCormic. In 1939, in South Boardman, he married Audrey Miner. 

Frank served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the armored division where he was wounded in action. He received the Purple Heart and other medals. Frank was a residential building contractor. He owned and operated McCormic Construction and retired in 1980. He was born and raised in the Fife Lake area and has lived in Detroit and Flint before moving to Traverse City in 1995. Frank was a life member of the DAV. 

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; a brother, Larry McCormic of Bradenton, Fla.; and very special nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; two half brothers; and an infant daughter, Sherry Lee, who died at birth. 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Donald Engebretson officiating. Military honors will follow under the auspices of Cherryland VFW Post No. 2780.

Burial will be in Clarke Cemetery in Kalkaska County. 

Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
