William Eady, 78, died at his home in Fife Lake, Saturday, June 7. He was born in Springfield Township, Kalkaska County, March 16, 1873, son of Thomas and Mary Eady. In 1902 he was unite din marriage to Virginia Lyle. Four children were born to this union, all of whom survive.
Mrs. Eady passed away Dec. 10, 1919. Mr. Eady was again married on May 22, 1942 to Mrs. Florence Bates.
Deceased lived until eight years ago on a farm east of the Maple Hill School. He was a pioneer in the real sense of the word. His parents, upon arriving at the depot at Walton from their home in Canada, walked to their home in Springfield township carrying the hand baggage, the next day William was born.
Surviving Mr. Eady besides his wife, Florence, are two sons, Vesper of Battle Creek and Tom with the U.S. Army in Korea; two daughters, Irma (Mrs. M. Van Wyck) of Battle Creek and Mrs. Inez Lee of Detroit, five stepchildren, Mrs. Edward Nyquist, Mrs. Loyd Hurlbut, Mrs. Nelson McBrian and Lavonna and Morris Bates, all of Manton; also five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Springfield Church of Christ Tuesday, June 10, and burial was made in the Springfield Cemetery. Rev. Geo A. Tennant officiated.
