Death claims Ward J. Butler, 46. Ward Justin Butler, son of William and Jane Butler, was born March 21, 1910, at South Boardman. He departed this life May 20, 1956, at his home near Fife Lake, at the age of 46 years and 2 months. Mr. Butler had spent most of his life as a farmer near South Boardman, and served for several terms as a Justice of Peace and town board member. On April 23, 1955, he was united in marriage to Vera Nelson of Fife Lake. At the time of his death he was on leave of absence from his position with the State Department of Conservation. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Vera, his mother, Mrs. Jane Butler of Kalkaska; one brother, Norman Butler of South Boardman; a daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Bruce Lanzter of Oklahoma, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3 o’clock from the Berg-Schwartz Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Burial was made in the family lot in the Boardman Township Cemetery.
