Rolland F. "John" Ball, age 83, of Kalkaska passed away Mon, Mar 29, 2010 at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.
Rolland is survived by his wife, Barbara Ball; his children, Bonnie J Campbell, Donna J Groleau, Cheryl L (Steve) Lull, Thomas F. Ball, and Don A. (Althea) Ball, all of Kalkaska; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Also surviving Rolland is his special friend James Jolly of Kalkaska.
Preceding Rolland in death were his parents, his son Jon Ball, brothers, Doyle and Max Ball, sisters, Beatrice Rowell, Marie Hall, and Donna Keller, and son in law, Duane Campbell.
Rolland was a life member of VFW Post 8684 and American Legion Post of Kalkaska. He served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Alabama. Rolland retired from the Kalkaska School District after 19 years of service as a bus mechanic.
He sailed the Great Lakes two years prior to joining the Navy. Rolland also loved fishing and hunting.
Visitation will be held Fri, Apr 2, from 5 to 8 pm at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. The funeral will take place Sat, Apr 3, at 11 am with Pastor Claude Rowley and David Rosenberg officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Kalkaska VFW Post 8684. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
