Robert F. Daniels, 65, a former truck driver and owner and operator of Bob Daniels Excavating Co., died Saturday at Kalkaska Memorial Hospital.
He had lived in Fife Lake since childhood and was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army.
He belonged to the Fife Lake American Legion and was a member of the original Michigan Fiddlers Association and the Dulcimer Club. He was a volunteer fireman for the Fife Lake Fire Department.
He was born July 12, 1919, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Frank L. and Frieda (Burzlaff) Daniels. On July 14, 1938, in Fife Lake, he married Pearl Ely, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert A. of Kinglsey, Douglas Lee of Fife Lake, and Doyle G. of Fruita, Colo; two brothers, Wilbur and Don Elliott, both of Fife Lake; two sisters, Johanna Whiteford of Williamsburg and Elaine Coffman of Grand Rapids; four stepbrothers, Joe Perry of the Upper Peninsula, Dave Perry of Big Rapids, Harry Perry of Grand Rapids and George Perry of Manton; two stepsisters, Effie Perry of Indiana and Margaret Stuck of Kalkaska; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lynn Elliott, and a grandson, Douglas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Covell-Smith Funeral Home, Kingsley, with the Rev. Gordon Terpening officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Township Cemetery, Fife Lake.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
