Douglas L. Daniels passed away on June 15, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born November 17, 1940 to Robert & Pearl (Ely) Daniels in Fife Lake, Michigan. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #7 for over 50 years. He also was a member of the American Legion #219 of Fife Lake and the VFW Post 8684 Men’s Auxiliary in Kalkaska.
Doug and Janet enjoyed their hunting trips out West. They made these annual trips every year for the last 30 years. They only missed one trip during that time to welcome the birth of their first Grand Daughter. Doug was one of the first recipients of the early Michigan Elk Tag, which of course, he filled. He shot a 575# record Black Bear in 1978 in the Sharon Swamp with his bow. Doug spent many years racing motorcycles, snowmobiles and enjoying softball, he also was a Triple A Trap Shooter, a Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend too many.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janet. His daughter, Teresa (Jeff) Patterson, Son, Steve Daniels along with his grandchildren Heather Patterson and Ryan (Britney) Patterson, Rachel, Rebecca, and Robert John (RJ) Daniels and his great granddaughter Isabella Patterson and Brothers, Robert & Doyle Daniels and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Dougie. Services will be held on Friday, June 19th in the Chapel of Kalkaska Funeral Home. Final Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm until the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Linda Bridson will officiate the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
