Richard J. Foster

Lansing, MI

Richard passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 23, 2024. He was born in Adrian, Michigan on January 25, 1931. Around 8 years old his parents and siblings moved to the Lansing area and that is where he grew up. In 1951, he took a job at Fisher Body where he held many positions to include supervision and a master boiler operator in the power house. He retired after 46 years of service. On July 31, 1953 he married the love of his life Donna Harmon, who he lovingly nicknamed “Mandy.” For their honeymoon they traveled Route 66 all the way to California. Together they made many memories – hunting, fishing, spending time with friends and family at their cabin up north and taking trips all across the United States usually with a kid or two in the backseat. Donna preceded him in death in October 2011. Richard is also preceded in death by his parents, Vivian and Ilah Foster, sisters, Audell and Lois Luce, brothers, Harold, Robert, Herbert, and Dannie Luce, Marshall, Larry, and George Foster. Richard is survived by his children Michael (Colene) Foster, Karen (Jason) Phelps. He was very proud of his grandchildren USMC Master Gunnery Sgt. Zachary Foster, and Joshua (Tab) Foster; great grandchildren Kaylee Ann Foster, Luke Foster, Agnes Foster, Mason Foster, and Avery Del Foster.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Skinner Funeral Home-Lansing Chapel with Pastor Terry LaDuke of Bright Hope Bible Church officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service for visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bright Hope Bible Church or to the Capital Area Humane Society in Richard’s name.
