Lila Mae Mitchell, 79, of Lapeer, passed away Monday (July 27, 2009). She was born October 27, 1929, in Brown city, to Ellis and Mabel (Jeffers) Stacy. She married Robert “Burr” Mitchell on April 25, 1959 in Hadley. Mrs. Mitchell was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very artistic and loved to read, crochet and do crossword puzzles. She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Kenneth) Mason of Lapeer, Patricia (Charles) Phelps of Columbiaville, Burr (Sherry) Mitchell of Rudyard, MI, Mary Mitchell of Succasunna, N.J., Stacy (Ann) Mitchell of Columbiaville, Jack (Helen) Humble of Peck: 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, William Stacy of Lapeer, George (Betty) Stacy of Fife Lake, MI; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Burr” Mitchell in 2008; son, Gerald Humble; parents, Ellis and Mabel Stacy; brothers, Bob Stacy, Stan Stacy; sisters, Nellie Setter, Margaret Schriber. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday (July 31, 2009) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Pastor Daryl Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Green Corners Cemetery, Hadley. Arrangements made by Muir brothers funeral home.
