June Evelyn Barber, 68, a homemaker from Fife Lake, died Wednesday at South Florida Regional Medical Center in Fort Myers, Fla. A resident of Fife Lake since 1976, she had lived in Ypsilanti from 1954 to 1976. She had been the manager of the Alden’s Catalog Store in Ypsilanti for several years. She was a member of the Fife Lake United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary No. 463 of South Boardman. Born June 13, 1925, in Wyandotte, she was the daughter of Albert and Beatrice (McDonald) Parsons. On Dec. 29, 1945, in Dearborn, she married Nicholas Barber, who preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Barber of Ann Arbor and Todd Barber of Clinton; and four grandchildren, Allison Barber, Cameron Barber, Lauren Barber and Nicholas Barber. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley. The Rev. Gary Wales will officiate. Burial will be in Springfield Township Cemetery, Fife Lake. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
