Josephine Carol Ries, 64, of Dansville, Michigan went home to Jesus, November 8, 2024. More affectionately known as “Jo, Josie, or Carrie” she was born August 4, 1960, to the late Arlene (Rall) Ries of Howell, Michigan and Gilbert Ries of Dansville, Michigan. Josie attended Dansville High School, a member of the 1979 graduating class. Following her graduation, Josie returned to Dansville High School where she worked as a Janitor for a while.
Josie was known for her gentle spirit and deep love of animals, especially horses and cats. A lover of life’s simple pleasures, she enjoyed solving word searches, listening to music, and turning in to her favorite TV shows; she especially enjoyed soap operas, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. An avid reader, Josie could often be found with a good book and every once in a while, she would indulge in an ice-cold beer.
Her kindness was unmatched; she wouldn’t harm a soul – not even a mosquito. She lived with a quiet but unwavering determination, meeting life’s challenges head-on while treating everyone she encountered with kindness and respect. Josie si survived by her siblings: Debbie Ries, Michael (Julie) Ries, and Penny Ries (Jon DeGroot); as well as 11 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, 2 uncles, and 1 aunt.
A celebration of Josie’s life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Vickers Leslie Funeral Home, 109 N. Church St., Leslie, Michigan 49284.
