Joan Francis (Westover) Henderson, age 77, of Cedarville, MI, died Sun, Nov 2, 2014, at Cedar Cove Assisted Living Community in Cedarville. She was born Joan F. Westover on Sept 28, 1937, in Flint, MI, to Frank Westover and Dorothy Elizabeth (Steele) Westover.
Joan’s family moved to Bruce Township, MI in 1942 and then to Pickford, MI in 1947. She attended Pickford Public Schools and graduated in 1955. After high school she worked at Dorothy’s Hamburger in Sault Ste. Marie and later at the Cedarville Inn in Cedarville. In 1976, she reunited with her childhood sweetheart, Bill Henderson and they married on Apr 9, 1977.
Joan enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and restoring antiques.
Joan F. Henderson was survived by one daughter, Barbara Joan Bell; step daughters, Joyce Beckman, Crystal Gable, Phyllis (Roy) Smith, and Michelle Cross; grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Bickham, Jesse Malkowski, Melody Beckman, Josephine Bell, Shannon Gable, Zachary Gable, Taylor Smith, Logan Smith, Cody Frank, and Elijah Terrell; and great grandson, Mick Bickham. She was also survived by sisters, Janet Szczepanski, Patsy (Carl) Dosenback, Linda Westover, Laurine (Bill) Payment, and Wendy (John) Bjunes; one brother, Ronald (Heike) Westover; and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Henderson on Jul 16, 2014; son Robert Jesse Beckman; daughter, Deborah Lynn Malkowski; brother, Richard Westover; sister, Judy Herrman; and brother in law, Hank Szczepanski.
