Janet Naomi (Wainwright) Gingell, 82, of Vernon, formerly of East Hartford, passed away on Thu, Jul 19, 2018 at Hartford Hospital, following a brief illness. She was the widow of Edward S. Gingell.

Janet was born on Sep 27, 1935 in Springfield, MA, daughter of the late David and Maude (Tolbert) Wainwright. She was an office administrator in various departments of the East Hartford Town Hall until her retirement and was a past president of her local union chapter. Janet was a nature lover and being in the Adirondacks, tending her gardens, and watching the birds fly around her year brought her joy. She was an avid reader, Patriots football and UConn basketball fan, and traveled extensively. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family and will be dearly missed by everyone, including her little dog Brandy who was her loving companion.

Janet is survived by a son, John A. Tolhus, III; two daughters, Larua J Gosselin and her husband Paul of Indian Trail, NC and Corinee M Bergeron and her husband Robert of Ashford; three stepchildren, Donna E. Gingell and her husband Peter Halsch of Saddle River, NJ, Linda Wellins and her husband Michael of Milford and John E. Gingell of Chicago, IL. She also leaves her eight grandchildren, Eric Bober and his wife Abby, Stephanie Bober and her fiancée John Bennett, Bethany Johnson, Bobby Bergeron, Samantha Tolhus, John M Tolhus, Kimberly and Ethan Gingell and their mother Wendy, and her great granddaughter, Ellie Bober, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her three sisters, Joanne Wainwright, Irene Wainwright, and Ruth Ellsworth and a stepdaughter, Laura Gingell.

A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Tuesday at D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday at the funeral chapel form 10 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to either the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr, Wallingford, CT 06492 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
