Edward Suddath Gingell, 81, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Janet (Wainwright) Gingell, died Mon, Jan 18, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Falls Church, VA, son of the late Reginald J. and Elizabeth Louise (Stoddard) Gingell, Ed lived in Avon for many years prior to moving to East Hartford.

Edward was a US Army veteran having served during WWII. He was a Vice President and manager in a major department store prior to his retirement, was a member of the American Legion, an avid traveler, enjoyed reading and enjoyed the outdoors. Besides his devoted wife Janet, Edward had four close children, recently deceased daughter, Laura, a son, John Edward Gingell of Chicago, IL, two daughters, Linda Lee Wellins and her husband Michael of East Hartford, Donna Elizabeth Gingell and her spouse Peter Halsch of Saddle River, NJ; three step-children, a step son, John A. Tolhus and his wife Lori Ann of Portland, two step daughters, Laura J. Gosselin and her husband Paul of Vernon, Corinne M. Bergeron and her husband Robert of Ashford; eight grandchildren, Kimberly and Ethan Gingell and their mother Wendy, Eric and Stephanie Bober, Bethany and Robert Bergeron, Samantha and John Tolhus.

Edward was predeceased by a former wife, Joan Vermette Gingell, two brothers, Thomas and Robert and a sister, Elizabeth.

Funeral service will be Sat, Jan 23, 2010 at 1pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Village Cemetery in Wethersfield at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel in East Hartford.
