James Van Wagoner taken following a heart attack.

James Van Wagoner, 69, years of age, veteran insurance dealer, and a former Oxford Township citizen died at his home at 55 Clark Street, Pontiac, at 7:15 pm Sunday. Death followed a heart attack which occurred at about 4 pm Saturday, shortly after Mr. Van Wagoner returned home.

Mr. Van Wagoner was well known throughout Oakland County. He was very active in business and fraternal circles, was amember of Pontiac Lodge No. 21, F. & AM.

Twenty seven years ago he moved to Pontiac from Oakwood, where he had resided for many years previously.

Surviving is the widow, Florence VanWagoner; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Tufty, Evanston, Ill.,; a son, MD VanWagoner, Pontiac; and a son J.L. Van Wagoner, with whom he was associated in business. Surviving are also four brothers, William of Pontiac; Fred of Oxford; Frank, Caro; and Carey, Millington; and a sister, Mrs. Fannie Dernberger, Detroit.

Funeral services were held from the Untoon Funeral Home, Wednesday at 2 pm. Rev. Paul Arnold Peterson of the First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac officiated. Burial was made in the Oakwood Cemetery.
