Douglas Ray Powers Sr, 70, of Springfield died Wed, Mar 11, 1998, in the Laurels of Bedford.

H was born Apr 13, 1927, in Battle Creek to Harold and Mildred (Silvers) Powers Sr.

He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Korean War and was employed as a welder at Clark Equipment Co. for 33 years.

His marriage to Helen Jacobs in 1957 ended in divorce in 1968.

Surviving are a son, Douglas Powers Jr of Battle Creek; a step son, Rick Thomas of Hickory Corners; three grandchildren; brothers, Roy Powers and Harold Powers Jr of Battle Creek; and sisters, Lillian Wilkerson, Betty Lou Phillips and Della Griffin of Battle Creek and Juanita France of Delton.

Preceding him in death was a brother, Kenneth Powers.

    • Enjoyed buying, fixing and selling cars, working, painting, and fishing.

    • 11:30 am today in Fort Custer National Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Jansen officiating and military honors by the Fort Custer Honor Guard.
