DEATH: 31 Jul 2020

Thank your for your service

Basil E. Aldridge passed away on Fri, Jul 31, 2020.

Basil was born to Adolphus E and Nellie (Smith) Aldridge on Oct 25, 1927 in Kingsley area until enlisting in the Army in 1950. While stationed in Texas near Weatherford, Basil met Wynola  Wigington through mutual friends. Theirs must have been a tremendous romance because of Basil’s tour of service and return to Michigan in 1952, he found work in Muskegon, where he could begin building a life. In 1954, he traveled to Weatherford to marry his love on Aug 4, 1954. They returned to Muskegon to start a family. Sadly, Wynola proceeded him in death in 2016.

Basil is survived by his 3 children Rodney (Mia), Robin Hicks, and Basil W. (Kristi). 9 grandchildren John (Katie), Matt (Sarah), Adam (Ashley), Sarah (Joshua), Derek (Melissa), Jessica (Troy), Lacey (Matt), Christopher (Samantha), and Karly. So far, there are 12 great grandchildren with another on the way (Basil’s favorite times were holding the babies!). Basil is also survived by one remaining sibling, Donna Martin of Kingsley, and several nieces and nephews with their extended families.

Basil worked most of his career at Dresser Industries and was fortunate to enter semi-retirement at the age of 55. Besides building and fixing things around each home he lived in, Basil enjoyed traveling, hunting, watching the Tigers, and spending time with family.

Basil was a member of the Muskegon Church of Christ. He will be cremated through Ever Rest Funeral Home and, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the family will hold a private ceremony at Bridgeton Cemetery to bury his ashes alongside Wynola. In lieu of gifts to the family, please do something for someone close and dear to you! The family expresses many thanks to the caring people who are Harbor Hospice.
