Zella L Hornbaker, 80, died at 11:12 am, Fri, Dec 2, 2011 at Miller’s Merry Nursing Home. She was born in Hartford City on Oct 9, 1931 to Corbett Bantz and Gladys Marie (Whetsel) Bantz. Both parents precede her in death. She married Jack L Hornbaker on Jul 30, 1950 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hartford City by Rev. Heley Cobb. He precedes her in death on Apr 30, 2006.
Zella retired from L.M. Berry & Co in Warsaw (Yellow Page Company) and from Hancock Fabrics of Mesa, AZ. She had lived in Warsaw for 15 years, she then moved back to Blackford County to be closer to her family. She enjoyed reading, watching TV and cooking a little.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Melanie A (husband, Larry R) McGary of Hartford City; Mikki L (husband, Greg) Skryzpiec of South Bend, IN; sons, Mark A Hornbaker (fiancé, Janine) of Gold Canyon, AZ; Marty L (wife, Ginger) Hornbaker of Warsaw; grandchildren, Matthew (wife, Kim) McGary, Mike McGary, Jessie Hornbaker, Kyle Hornbaker, Stephanie (husband, Brian) LaCluzye, Alan (wife, Megan) Skryzpiec, Khrysten Hornbaker, Derieck Hornbaker; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Lois Hoover of Hartford City; Sue Cavanaugh of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Her husband, brother, Verlin Lee “Bud” Bantz and sisters, Judy Bantz and Elenoara “Jean” Willmann.
Funeral service will be at 11 am Sat, Dec 10, 2011 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N High St, Hartford City with Rev. Keith Kincaid officiating.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm Fri, Dec 9, 2011 from 9 to 11 am Sat, Dec 10, 2011 at Keplinger Funeral Home.
Zella will be cremated.
