Vernon N Spencer, Jr, 70, of Kalkaska, died Mon, Aug, 19, 1996, at Munson Medical Center. 

Mr. Spencer spent his early years in Kalkaska County, and moved to Columbiaville in 1960. He returned to Kalkaska in 1979. He was employed by Wayne Wire Cloth Products prior to his retirement in 1987. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a member of the Spencer Church of Christ. He enjoyed the outdoors. 

Born in Kalkaska County on Sep 26, 1925, he was the son of Vernon and Millie Tice Spencer. On Jun 30, 1951, in Kalkaska, he married Patricia Vipond who survives. 

Also surviving are two sons, David Spencer of Fenton and Donald Spencer of Lapeer; two daughters, Debby Novello of Holt and Dawn Husch of Portland; three brothers, Maurice of Madison, WI, Devere (Bugs) of Montrose, and Allison (Doc) of Rapid City; one sisters, Ila Kay Lund of Lansing; and six grandchildren. 

One brother, Ted Spencer, preceded him in death. 

Memorial services were held Thu, Aug 22, 1996, at Spencer Church of Christ. Michael Steere officiated. Burial was in Lodi Cemetery, Kalkaska County. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Spencer Church of Christ.
