Thaddeus A. Tanner, 68, a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, died Wednesday, Nov 8, 1989, at his residence. 

Mr. Tanner was employed by Wayne Wire Cloth Products prior to his retirement in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, and was a member of Land O'Lakes Post 8684 V.F.W. He was a member of the Excelsior Church of Christ and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and antique farm equipment. 

Mr. Tanner was born in Kalkaska County on May 23, 1921, to John J. and Bertha McCool Tanner. On July 18, 1938, in Mancelona, he was united in marriage with Irene Angell who survives. 

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, John Tanner of Clare; five daughters, Audrey King of Artesia, NM, Alta Beasley of South Boardman, Sharon Birgy of Fife Lake, Carol Woodin of Kalkaska, and Ann Bandlow of Acme; one brother, Gene Tanner of Kalkaska; three sisters, Marvel Lantzer, Nellie Hamilton, and Josephine Aldridge all of Kalkaska; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. 

One brother, Milo Tanner, and one grandson, Kevin John Tanner, preceded him in death. 

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 11, 1989, at the Spencer Church of Christ. Kent Strahan officiated. Burial was in Oliver Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County. 

Memorial contributions will be accepted for Hospice of Kalkaska County or the Excelsior Church of Christ.
