Shirley A Brooks, 73, of Battle Creek died Wed evening, Jul 28, 2010 at Battle Creek Health Systems. She was born in Sturgis, MI on Oct 2, 1936, the daughter of Aaron H and Zella I (VanZile) Pickett.
Shirley worked for many years at Nottke’s Bowling Alley and the Marshall Lanes in Marshall, MN. Shirley married Everett L Ehle in 1954 and later married L Gene Brooks in 1970.
She was preceded in death by her 2 husbands; 2 daughters, Sharon Lloyd and Patricia Stoudt; a grandson, Gavin Brooks; and a brother, Richard Pickett.
Shirley is survived by 4 children, Joyce (Richard) Kunz of Battle Creek, Everett (Linda) Ehle of Coldwater, Lori (Tim) Stebleton of Battle Creek and Michael Brooks of Battle Creek; a son in law, Robert “Bob” Loyd of Battle Creek; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
At the request of her family, they will receive friends 5 to 7 pm, Sun, Aug 1, 2010 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Graveside services to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held 2:30 pm, Mon, Aug 2, 2010 at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
