Robert Samuel Koontz, age 77 of Findlay, died at 12:55 pm on Fri, Jun 11, 2021 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. Bob was born on Aug 3, 1943 to the late Henry and Helen (Elzay) Koontz in Bluffton, OH. He married Susan Diane Boyer on Dec 11, 1965 and she preceded him in death on Feb 17, 2011. Bob is survived by two daughters: Cindy (John) Lathan of Pandora, OH and Chris (Jeff) Clemons of Boonsboro, MD; two brothers, Richard (Eunice) Koontz of Columbus, OH and Russell (Ruth) Koontz of Bluffton, OH; eight grandchildren: Jessica (Caleb) Arthur, Mandi LeMaster, Tyler (Jessica) Latham, Deidre (Tim) Majoy, Brandon Kesselring, Trista Kesselring, Levi Latham, and Kyler Hammond; eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond (Carol) Koontz. Bob graduated from Cory Rawson High School in 1961. He was a member of the Powell Memorial United Methodist Church. Bob was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was the former owner of the Arlington Cider Mill. He was head softball coach for girls youth softball and a time keeper for the high school basketball games. He retired from the Findlay Post Office in 2001 after 33 years of service, where he was a letter carrier and later became acting supervisor and post master of McComb Post Office. He worked for the City of Findlay, Feasels Garden Center and Family Farm and Home. Bob restored his parents honeymoon car, a 1926 Ford Tudor Sedan. He enjoyed taking this car to various car shows and parades. His favorite pastimes were woodworking and gardening but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Mon, Jun 21, 2021, from 5 to 8pm at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay, where funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday with Pastor Hugh Bowland officiating. Interment will follow at Hasson Cemetery, where full military rights will be conducted by the Hancock Count Veterans Memorial Squad.
