Robert L. Thornburg, 84, of Athens, died Friday, Jan 26, 1990, at a Battle Creek Hospital.
Mr. Thornburg moved to Athens 10 years ago from Kalkaska County. He was a farmer, and was employed by Wayne Wire Cloth Products, Inc. in Kalkaska until his retirement in 1968. He was a former member of the Kalkaska Odd Fellow Lodge.
Mr. Thornburg was born in Kalkaska County on Nov 4, 1905, to Charles and Sussie Gable Thornburg. He was married to Hilda Musser on Feb. 28, 1936, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, James Thornburg of Athens and Robert J. Thornburg of Glenrose, Texas; one brother, Russell Thornburg of East Jordan; one sister, Dorothy Dietz of Kalkaska; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Raymond and Dewey Thornburg, and one sister, Gladys Burkholder, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan 29, 1990, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. John Dosh officiated. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
