Robert E. Hutchinson, 67, of Rapid City, a retired Kalkaska County Deputy Sheriff, died Saturday, March 3, 1990, at Munson Medical Center. 

Mr. Hutchinson moved to Rapid City from Leslie in 1955. He spent his early years as a painter and in construction work. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, and was a member of the American Legion. 

Mr. Hutchinson was born in Eaton Rapids on January 18, 1923, to Frank and Margie Isham Hutchinson. On November 23, 1945, in Angola, IN, he was married to Irene Wilbur who survives. 

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Sharon Hutchinson of Traverse City, and Shirley Hutchinson and Sarah Hutchinson both of Kalkaska; one brother, LeRoy Hutchinson of Leslie; six sisters, Doris Lux and Charlotte Sunderland both of Reedsport, OR, Mamie Stiles and Mary Laird both of Dresden, TN, Margaret Sunderland of Cayucos, CA, and Flora Mullins of Stockbridge. 

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Hutchinson, Jr., Alfred Hutchinson, and an infant. 

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 6, 1990, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Jerry Leazenby, pastor of the Rapid City Church of Christ, officiated. Burial will be in Clearwater Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
