Robert A. Cummer, 64, of 419 Bates Street, Fife Lake, died early Monday morning, June 2, 1980, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
He is survived by his wife, Wenona; two sons, Robert of Fife Lake, and Michael of Williamsburg; two step sons, Daniel Potter of Fife Lake, and Thomas Chapman of Grand Rapids; three step daughters, Mrs. Michael (Judy) Hansen of White Cloud, Mrs. Larry (Vivian) Engle of Grand Rapids, and April Lobur of Grand Rapids; one brother, Maxwell Cummer of Grand Rapids; and 15 grandchildren.
Mr. Cummer was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on Dec 6, 1915 the son of Oscar and Rosella Creline Cummer. He was married to Wenona Kelly in Grand Rapids on September 8, 1962.
He had been a resident of Grand Rapids until moving to Fife Lake seven years ago. He retired as a tool and die maker from Stanley Manufacturing Company in Grand Rapids. During WW 2, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Besides his parents, one daughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 1980, at the Schwartz-Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska. Rev. Gary Sweckard, pastor of the Fife Lake Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Springfield Twp. Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
