Rita M. Gauld, age 87, of Fife Lake passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City.
She was born July 8, 1922 in Fife Lake to Carl and Margaret (Rebone) Fritz. On Aug 30, 1943 she married the late Garth Gauld at St. Mary’s Hannah. Together they raised two children.
Rita enjoyed canning, sewing and farm life. She was a member of St. Aloysius and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Donna (Donald) Crawford of Fife Lake; son, Doyle (Marcia) Gauld of Port Charlotte, Fla.; five grandchildren, Lisa Leach, Kimberly (Dennis) Norman, David (Marie) Crawford and Jillian and Eric Gauld; 10 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Hillary, Landon, Thomas, Sarah, Brandon, Laura, Ashley, Grace and David; siblings, Fred (Deloris) Fritz, Dorothy (Kenneth) Bever, Anne NewMarch and Mary Hendges; and sister in law, Helen Fritz.
Besides her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Garth, in 1977; a grandson, Scott Gauld; a sister, Matilda Ely; and a brother, Edward Fritz.
A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb 19, 2010 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Fife Lake. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service, also at the church. Burial will take place at Clark Cemetery in Fife Lake in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bortz Health Care Activities Fund.
