Orland Francis Major, 90, of Fife Lake, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Munson Medical Center.
Orland was born on May 19, 1921, in Howell, to the late Merrill and Veda (Beck) Major. Orland married Helen C. McCallum on December 20, 1941, and together raised five daughters. He proudly served in World War II for the U.S. Navy.
Orland is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 70 years Helen Major; daughters: Carrol Cort, Michelle "Shelly" Major, and Ruth Roy; 12 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren; his brother Clifton (Margee) Major of Novi; and many friends.
Orland was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters: Karen Buxton and Orlanda "Landy" Bevis; four brothers: Cortland, Orville, Sheldon, and Clayton; and two sisters: Margaret Fox and Janice Cranston.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Kalkaska Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at Kalkaska Funeral Home on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 2 p.m. where Pastor Dan Ingersoll officiated. Burial took place at Garfield Township Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
