Mrs. Nellie Shurtz, age 74, died Tuesday, May 11, 1954, at the Pontiac General Hospital. Funeral services were held at 2pm Saturday, May 15 from the Hanlin Funeral Home, Millington. Rev. Collins E. Thornton, Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiated. Burial was in the Case Cemetery, Oakland, County.
Mrs. Shurtz was born in Kalkaska County, December 4, 1879, a daughter of Sidney and Rachel Butler.
Surviving are six sons, Donald of Pontiac, Vernon of Rochester, Francis and Willard both of California, Sidney and Jerry, both of Millington. Four daughters, Mrs. Effie Martin of Pontiac, Mrs. Lucy Young of Davisburg, Mrs. Flora Butterfield of Troy, Mrs. Jeanette Neaubesan of Millington, 28 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was a sister of the late William Butler of Boardman Township. Leader and Kalkaskian, May 27, 1954.
