Michael Ray Elwood, “Mike”, 69, died at 6:19pm Mon at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Hartford City to the late Odus Marion Elwood and the late Addie Irene (Murray) Elwood. Mike graduated from Hartford City High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He married Barbara J. (Chick) on Nov 28, 1964 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Hartford City.
Mike retired from ABB in 1999 after 30 years of service. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed woodworking and loved to fish. He was well known for his “Quick Wit”.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Barbara J. Elwood of Hartford City; son Steven Michael Elwood (friend-Glenda Armstrong) of Portland; sister, Nancy L. (Donald) Edwards of Hartford City; brother, Phillip A. (Tina) Elwood of Baker, LA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Donna M. Perry and Phyllis E. Flynn.
Mike will be cremated. A memorial service will be at 7pm Wed at Keplinger Funeral Home, Hartford City. A memorial visitation where friends may visit the family will be from 5-7pm Wed at the funeral home. Interment will follow at a later date at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie.
