Mary O. Clapsaddle, 100, of Brown City died Jan. 10, 2001 in Kalkaska.

 

She died as she lived-with dignity and compassion for those around her and with love for her family and friends. She was born July 12, 1900 in the Omard area of Flynn Township, Sanilac County to William and Annie Clark. She attended Poplar Pointe Country School and married Russell on March 24, 1924 in Omard.

 

She was a housewife, mother and nurse’s aid caregiver for many years. Her hobbies were caring for others, gardening, and having a good strong cup of coffee with her special friends, George and Cathy Boursaw.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Betty (George) Stacy, and Pauline (Donald) Huffman, both of Fife Lake; one son Zane (Hazel) of Oxford; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Russell in 1941; son Wayne, grandson Russell Stacy; two brothers, Donald and Elmer; and two sisters, Frances and Jenny.

 

A gathering was held Jan. 13, 2001 at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City. Burial took place at the Omard Cemetery.

 

Memorials were made to the Brown City Fire Department.

 

The family of Mary Clapsaddle would like to thank everyone who attended the services or sent flowers. A special thank you goes out to George and Cathy Boursaw, Tom and Brenda Hall and Phil and Cheryl Sweeney. Thank you for all your tremendous support.
