Margaret Marie Hirt, 77, of Kalkaska, died Wed, Dec 31, 1997, at home surrounded by family.
She was born Sep 17, 1920, in Elmira, NY to Earl B and Mabel (Martindale) Dingman. She grew up in Flint, where she married Alfred Hirt on Jun 22, 1940. they moved to Torch River in 1943, and in 1982 moved to Bear Lake Township, Kalkaska County.
She was devoted to her family and her dog Crockett. her favorite pastimes were cross stitch, ,ceramics, and feeding birds and squirrels.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Mabel Dingman Soule and Russel Soule of Kalkaska; sons Gary (Susan) Hirt of Kalkaska and Rick (Susan) Hirt of Williamsburg; daughters Barbara (Jack) Martin of Traverse City and Christine (Keith) Nash of Torch River; six grandchildren and one great grandson.
Margaret was preceded in death by her father in 1962 and her husband in 1990. Funeral services were held Jan 4 at the Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska. Pastor David Rosenberg of the Bear Lake Christian Church officiated. Cremation followed.
