Alfred H. Hirt, 74, of Kalkaska, died Friday, August 24, 1990, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
He had been a lifelong resident of Antrim and Kalkaska Counties, and was a retired carpenter. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and reading.
Mr. Hirt was born in Antrim County on Oct. 18, 1915, to Henry and Lena (Briggs) Hirt. He was married on June 22, 1940, in Flint, to Margaret Dingman who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gary Hirt and Rick Hirt, both of Traverse City; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Barbara) Martin of Traverse City, and Mrs. Keith (Christine) Nash of Torch River Bridge, Glenn Hirt of Elk Rapids, and Donald Hirt of Jenison; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Soule of Kalkaska; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Ralph preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 26, 1990, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Paul Karges, pastor of the Peoples Church officiated. Graveside services were held Monday, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids.
