Mrs. Malissa M. Beckwith, 84, of Fife Lake, died Sat, Jan 27, 1996, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mrs. Beckwith had been a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker, and enjoyed her family, cooking, and baking.
Born in Kalkaska County on Jul 9, 1911, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Monhead Ingersoll. On Dec 27, 1927, in Kalkaska County she married Hubert Beckwith who preceded her in death on Nov 9, 1952.
Surviving are two sons, Virgil Beckwith of Kalkaska and Charles Beckwith of Petoskey; five daughters, Reatha Schelske of South Boardman, and Virginia Campbell, Mary Lou Dennis, Julia Jordan, and Lucy Elliott all of Fife Lake; one brother, LeRoy Ingersoll of Fife Lake; one sister, Lillian Beckwith of Fife Lake; 29 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren.
One son Chester and three infants, John, Anna, and Burt, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Tue, Jan 30, 1996, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Dan Ingersoll officiated. Burial in Lodi Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
