Lucinda P Cross, 81, of Rapid River, formerly of Kalkaska, died on Fri, Jul 9, 2004 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City.
She was born May 21, 1923, in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of Donald P. and Bessie M (Ferris) Bateman. On Dec 24, 1939, in Kalkaska, she married Merlin R. Cross, who survives.
A longtime resident of Kalkaska, Lucinda worked as an administrative secretary with the Kalkaska Public Schools for 19 years.
With her son and family, Lucinda owned and operated a general store, cabin rentals and canoe livery in Steuben.
In addition to her husband, Merlin, Lucinda is survived by a son, Terrence J (Sally) Cross of Manistique; daughters, Susan (John F) Yonker of Frankenmuth, Sherryl (Ron) Hellenga of Traverse City, and Jacquelyn Miller of Traverse City; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Lio Bernard of Mason, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Leo Maynard Bateman, twin to Lio and Leonard Bateman; and three sisters, Ruth Ireland, Donna Miller, and Clara Breslin.
Following cremation, burial will be in Garden Cemetery in Garden. Arrangements were by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
