Loyd W. Battenfield, 91, of Fife Lake, passed away Monday evening, Aug. 10, 1987 at the Osteopathic Hospital in Traverse City after a short illness.
Mr. Battenfield was born in Springfield Township, Kalkaska County on Aug. 3, 1896, to John and Matilda (Hare) Battenfield. He grew up in and was a lifelong resident of Springfield Township where he operated a cattle farm and was a cattle buyer. He was a member of the Farm Bureau.
On Nov. 23, 1932, he married the former Cora Olson in Detroit. She survives along with two daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Jessie) Tallman of Caro, and Mrs. Rollin (Lloy) Jones of Ypsilanti. Also surviving are two nephews, two nieces, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a grandson.
Funeral services were held at the Fife Lake Baptist Church on Friday, Aug 14, with Rev. Gary Sweckard officiating. Burial was at Clark Cemetery in Springfield Township.
