BIRTH: 11 Jun 1958 Honolulu, Honolulu, Hawaii

DEATH: 10 Jun 2010 Mystic, New London, Connecticut

Thank your for your service

Kathryn Rene (Revell) Fowler, 51, of Mystic, CT, passed away in her home Jun 10, 2010. She was born Jun 11, 1958 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of Barbara R. Jones and the late Joseph E. Revell and was raised primarily in Hagerstown, MD.

She graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1976, served in the U.S. Navy for a short period honorable discharged for medical reasons. She met her husband, David W. Fowler, in Orlando, FL where she stood behind him as a supportive and encouraging Navy wife for the extent of his 21 year career.

She is survived by her husband, Dave of 32 years, her three daughters, Rachel Mentz, Erin Fowler, and Kelly McKee all of Mystic, Barbara of Zephyrhills, FL, her sister, Theresa Schmidt of Gainesville, GA; and three brothers, David and Michael Revell of FL, and John Revell of TX. She is also survived by her four granddaughters, Haley, Kayla, Hannah, and Allison.

She was predeceased by her brother Phillip N. Revell in 1991.

Kathy was a very dedicated woman. There was not a life that she touched that was not impacted some positive way. Family and friends will remember her for how she would sacrifice her time to help others, whether it was working at horse shows at Mystic Valley Hunt Club in Gales Ferry, delivering flowers for the Mystic Florist, volunteering for Greener Pastures Horse Rescue, or taking care of friends pets when they were out of town. She was a very talented gardener, which was her passion and career for over 20 years, tending to two private Stonington gardens, as well as her own at the home she and Dave lived in for the past 16 years.

Kathy also had a well-known passion for animals, especially those in need. Each of her pets came across her path in need of someone to love, and Kathy provided that and much more. She loved photography, too, and often had her face behind the camera, capturing both milestones and everyday moments for her family and for others. She also had an eye for the gardens she was so proud of, horse shows, and anything else that struck her.

A memorial service will be held in her honor Wednesday, Jun 16 at 4 pm, at Stone Acres, 389 North Main St in Stonington. Burial will be private. There are not calling hours.

For those who prefer, donations may be sent to the following organizations: Greener Pastures Horse Rescue, which is creating a scholarship in Kathy’s name. Cathy’s Rottie Rescue of North Stonington, from which she adopted her dog Dempsey; and the Submarine Force Library and Museum Association.
