Justin Straksis Sr., 85, a longtime resident of Kalkaska, died Thu, Oct 21, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Straksis had been employed as a tool and die maker prior to his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, and was a life member of the Michigan Trappers Association.
Born in Montreal, Ontario, on Feb 10, 1914, he is the son of Constantine and Katherine Sakalis Straksis. He married Mary Herring in Mancelona on Jan 27, 1940. She preceded him in death on Aug 1, 1994.
Surviving are son Justin (Sandra) Straksis II of Kalkaska; daughters Linda (Bill) George of Kalkaska and Sharon (Roger) Phaneuf of Gaylord; brother Stanley Straksis of Indiana; sister Ellen Ponczek of Chicago, IL; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time.
